Autumn Day by the Lake, Sharon Mark

A peaceful fall day in a small rural town by the water.

Sharon Mark (born Somerville) was born in 1955 in the Chateauguay Valley, where she still makes her home in the village of Hemmingford, Quebec. Sharon is a self-taught artist, who started painting in acrylics after the birth of her second child in 1982. Working from the studio in her home, she paints tranquil country scenes in the naive style, with a lot of colour and detail. Her paintings evoke memories of a childhood spent in a rural setting. Her location in the country provided loads of inspiration, with the rolling hills, old stone houses, barnyard, apple orchards and country life. Her paintings don't always tell a story, but merely show a glimpse of a happy moment in time.
